Yael Naim

pop folk // soft r&b

When Paris-born, Israeli-raised Yael Naim met David Donatien, a West Indian drummer, the two sat down to share their rich musical experiences. Combining Yael’s classical education and love of pop and jazz, this collaboration lead into recording 13 beautifully arranged compositions, mostly sung in Hebrew, with instrumentation of piano, guitar, cello, bass and percussion. While the mood ranges from melancholic to sweeter and hopeful notes, she carries intimate feeling throughout her songs.

Never-fading optimism that leaves you smiling and humming along.

    I really loved her collaboration with Readymade FC.
    But “New soul” definetly sounds like a copy of Readymade’s style. Pity because her voice is very very nice so I hope she’ll find her own style soon.

    New Soul touched me. Someone else mentioned the la la la’s left them with a good feeling. I think it’s more than that. For me the song has a feeling of innocence. Somehow it draws you out of the everyday concerns and makes you appreciate just being alive. Even innocence makes mistakes and that’s ok. It’s a beautiful part of life; enjoy it! la la la la la.

    Ive never heard music in Hebrew before. Its a beautiful language to listen to. Her music is hauntingly beautiful. And I discovered her from the Ibook commercial…I just liked that “New Soul” song…but I like her the more I listen to her other music.

    I have seen and enjoyed Yael and her group so much at North Sea Jazz Festival. We all loved it!
    She did a funny song with sentences, english as well as french rhyming words mixed together. I couldn’t find this song on the internet. It wasn’t on the new album. Does anyone know the title?
    She also sang a song: you’re so beautiful, which made people crying all over. Wow! Is this song on an album somewhere?
